Eleanor Ruth Medlin

January 29, 1931 — September 6, 2013

Eleanor Ruth Medlin, 82, Hobart, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2013, at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was born on January 29, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee.

She was the daughter of Margaret Louise and Clarence Paris. Eleanor grew up in Nashville where she met and married the love of her life, Jimmie. The day after they graduated from Howard High School, they married on June 10, 1949, in Athens, Alabama. The next day she and Jimmie moved to Texas where they lived for fifty-four years. Eleanor worked many years at Sanger Harris and later retired from Palmer Paper Company to care for her elderly parents.
Eleanor was a member of First Baptist Church, Hobart and her Victory Sunday school class. She loved to go shopping with her daughter and go out to eat with family, but her greatest joy was being with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Boyd and husband Stephen, Hobart, OK
one son, Rick Medlin and wife Lisa, San Antonio, TX
five grandchildren, Kim Goss and husband Scott, Lone Wolf, OK
Brad Boyd, Justin, TX
Amy Horner and husband Ron, Parker , CO
Austin Medlin and Ashlyn Medlin, San Antonio, TX
nine great-grandchildren, Taylan and Layne Goss, Colton and McKenzie Boyd, Hailey, Hannah, and Addison Horner, Cheyanne Medlin, and Cooper Medlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jimmie (2011).

Family will receive friends 4-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Ray and Martha's Chapel, Hobart, OK.
Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Hobart, OK
Burial will follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hobart Library, Kiowa County Museum, or Shortgrass Theater.
