Effie Laverne Hall

February 3, 1925 — September 5, 2015

Ft. Worth, TX. On Saturday, September 5, 2015, E. Laverne Hall went home to be with her Savior, Jesus, at the age of 90. She passed away at home in the loving care of her daughter, Jan, and her family. LaVerne was a longtime resident of Hobart before moving to Lawton. She then joined Jan's family in Virginia for many years before they moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 2002.
Service - There will be a graveside service at the Hobart Rose Cemetery, just east of town on Highway 183, at noon on Friday, September 11, 2015.
Memorials - In lieu of flowers, please make donations in LaVerne's memory to the Billie Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28201, or by phone at 1-877-247-2426 .
LaVerne was born to R.W. and Nettie Darby on February 3, 1925, in Hobart. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Roy Hall; son, Dennis Hall; sister, Thelma Jackson, and her husband, Nealie; and brothers: Russell Darby and wife Minnie Lee, Henry Darby and wife Jo, Art Darby and wives Evelyn and Vera; Norton Darby and wife, Elsie; a nephew, Richard Darby and two nieces, Deborah Harris and Ginger Hurley.
Survivors include daughter, Jan Smith, and her husband, Ralph; granddaughter Diana Frazier and husband, Bryan, and great granddaughter Kaitlyn; granddaughter Heather Smith, all of Ft. Worth TX; daughter-in-law, Brenda Vines, and granddaughter, Rebecca Oleson, and family of Atlanta, GA; niece Evelyn Jacobs of San Antonio, TX; nephew Ace Darby and wife Patti, of Lewisville, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was a very strong woman, accepting the difficulties in life the same way she did the good times - with faith in the Lord and a very strong work ethic to get up every day and press on. Like so many of her generation, she was strongly patriotic and had a deep faith in God and His provision. She was a loving mother who always had time for her children. LaVerne was an excellent cook and the smell of fresh baked cookies and cakes is a cherished memory.
LaVerne, along with Jan, would want to say thank you to all her family and friends who showed the love of Jesus during these past few months of illness. Your prayers and kind words of encouragement gave us strength for each new day. God bless you all
