Edward G. Holt, 92, of Cordell, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Cordell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 22, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Amanda B.P. Lockwood and Rev. Michelle McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnview Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 8pm at Ray and Martha's Funeral Homes in Cordell.
Ed was born July 19, 1927, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He was an avid basketball player and mischief maker while attending school at Cloud Chief. After graduation Ed enlisted in the Navy and served as Seaman 1st Class training in fire fighting skills. Upon completion of his Naval enlistment, Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force where he obtained the rank of Staff Sargent. During his time in the Air Force, Ed met the love of his life, Imogene Morris.
On October 14, 1950, Ed and Imo were married in Cordell. During this time period, Ed was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, where they welcomed their first child, Belinda Gail. In 1954, while stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Springs, Texas, Ed and Imo welcomed their second child, Eddie Morris. Later in 1954, the family moved to Cordell where Ed started Holt Farms and served as the Assistant Fire Chief at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in Civil Service. In 1956, Ed and Imo joined the First United Methodist Church of Cordell, where they were lifetime members.
Once Ed retired from Civil Service, he poured his life into farming. Ed had a deep love of the land. He continued his farming career until retiring in his late 80's. A huge highlight and thrill for Ed came in 2017 when four of his farms earned the distinguished title as an Oklahoma Centennial Farm.
Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Imogene and his parents.
Those left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Belinda Holt Masters; son, Eddie Holt and wife Donna; five grandchildren: Chism Holt, Kyle Masters and wife Dayna, Tanner Holt and wife Alicia, Brad Masters, and Colten Holt and wife Katey; eleven great grandchildren: Sage Stewart, Bentley Masters, Keegan Holt, Kaylin Holt, Braxton Holt, Brayden Holt, Ava Willingham, Georgia Willingham, Selena Rodgers, Haylee Holt, and Josie Holt; two sisters: Edith Conner and husband Dale and Judy Coffman and husband Don; and numerous other family members and friends that love him dearly. Ed was a loving husband, dad, brother, and PaPa.
