Memorial services for Doyne Cook, 68, of Carnegie, Oklahoma will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the SW Cowboy Church, 7323 N.W. Wolf Rd., Lawton, Oklahoma located on Highway 58 near Lake Lawtonka. A relay race will follow, consisting of family and friends, where Doyne will be carried on horseback from the SW Cowboy Church to his final resting place in the mountains.
Doyne was born on January 5, 1944 to Stafford and Coletha Cook in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Doyne graduated from Carnegie High School in 1962 where he was active in the band and enjoyed playing the Trumpet. Doyne married Linda Cook in 1963 and they had three children during their 14 year marriage. Doyne married Doris Parr in 1981. Doris shared a love of rodeo life with Doyne and they enjoyed many active years on the rodeo circuit during their 30 year marriage. Doyne's life was committed to working with horses and working with the younger generation of local cowboys where his legacy and spirit will continue to thrive. Doyne was the President of the Carnegie Round Up Club for numerous years and enjoyed participating in rodeos, training horses, and assisting friends and neighbors.
Doyne is preceded in death by his parents, Stafford and Coletha Cook.
Doyne is survived by his wife, Doris Cook of Carnegie, Oklahoma; daughter Vicky Lindsey & husband Steve Lindsey of Murphy, Texas; son Dee Cook of Carnegie, Oklahoma; daughter Stacy Ogle & husband Brandon Ogle of Altus, Oklahoma; step-son Leon Parr and wife Rita Parr of Russellville, Missouri; step-son Greg Parr of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; step-daughter Penny Boyles and husband Gary Boyles of Spencer, Oklahoma; and sister Jacquetta Finley of Roswell, New Mexico. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
