Dorthay Lee Dyer, 87, of Carnegie, OK passed away Thursday, November 10th, 2011 and joined her family in Heaven. She was born May 17th, 1924, to Fred J. and Gracie Lee (McNabb) Schmidt, who farmed in the Alden community. On June 1, 1941, Dorthay married George Dyer, son of Arthur and Florence Dyer. They farmed south of Carnegie in the Alden area. They had three children. Karen, Larry, and Dennis. She always helped on the farm by driving tractors, helping with harvest, milking the cows and whatever was needed. She also loved working in her flowers and garden. Dorthay and George enjoyed visiting their neighbors, and were always ready to play cards or dominoes. Dorthay was a member of the East Spring Valley Quilting Club. Her husband George passed away in November, 1986. Dorthay and her family were faithful members of the Alden Church where she served as pianist for several years. When the church closed, they joined the First Baptist Church in Carnegie. Dorthay loved playing the piano especially with her grandchildren beside her. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and riding along with Dennis on the farm. Dorthay was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Her sweet spirit and infectious giggle will always be remembered.

seven grandchildren, Rhonda Edingfield Miner, Teresa Edingfield Friess, Kerry Edingfield, Lori Dyer Graham, Laci Dyer Tompkins, Dr.John Dennis Dyer, and Rebekah Dyer Powers.
ten great grandchildren, Ashlee Crook, Alex, Andrew and Parker Edingfield, Karlee and Lybbee Graham, Lexi and Tiger Tompkins, Layla Dyer and Nikolas Powers.
