Dorothy Marie Whitcomb, 93, passed away on May 31st, 2010, at Grace Living Center in Chickasha, OK.
She was born October 6th, 1916, to Charles Franklin and Mary Mabel (Holton) Secrist. in Woodward, OK.
Dorothy graduated in 1935 from Woodward High School. She married James Riley "Jimmy "Whitcomb on June 20, 1937 in Woodward, OK. She moved to Hobart 1955. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, sang in the choir, and was involved in many church activities. She was also a member of the Good Sam's Club and the Hobart Garden Club. Dorothy was a Librarian at the Hobart Public Library, from 1962 until her retirement. She moved to Chickasha 5 years ago.
Survivors include: Two sons: Larry Whitcomb, Millsap, TX
James O. "Jimmy" Whitcomb and wife, Regina, Chickasha, OK
Two Daughters: Riletta Stockton and Husband, Cecil, Hobart, OK
Shellie Bates and husband, Dale, Summerton, S.C.
Nine grandchildren, Eleven great-grandchildren.
One brother, C.F. Secrist and wife, Sterlene, Amarillo, TX
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Jimmy Whitcomb in 1987, 2 sisters, Merle Lucas and Alice Smith, daughter-in-law Nelda Whitcomb, 1 granddaughter, Angela Stockton and 1 grandson, Jason Whitcomb.
Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
First United Methodist Church, Hobart, OK
Officiating: Rev. Mark Hiehle, Chickasha, OK
Under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, OK
Burial will follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery.
