Dorothy Marie (Jackson) Murphy passed away in the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and sister. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at Ray and Martha's Funeral Homes in Carnegie. Gary Jeter, pastor of the First Christian Church of Brenham, Texas will be officiating.
Dorothy was born March 13, 1934 to Florence and Dan Jackson of Carnegie, Okla. She was a 1952 graduate of Carnegie High School. She spent most of her life working in the restaurant business until 1988 when she went to work for C.R. Industries in Hobart where she retired in 1996 and moved to Virginia for two year before relocating to Brenham, Texas where she lived until her death.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her Family and no one enjoyed spoiling grandchildren more than she did. She loved having the prettiest flowers in the neighborhood and was especially proud of her roses.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mickey and William Clanahan, Grandchildren: April Walker, Dawn and Rea Santiago, Rick Walker and Erica, Brooke Clanahan, Haley Clanahan and Drew Clanahan. Great Grandchildren: Samantha Toms, Ricky Walker III, Katie Walker, Sean Walker. sisters and brother-in-laws: Werta and Tom Phipps and Fran and Tommy Keegan, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons Rick Walker and Danny Leroy Walker, grandson Jeffry Bickford, her parents Florence and Dan Jackson; brothers, Dan Jackson Jr., Lawrence Jackson, Florence Jackson, Frank Jackson, Myrna Kay Jackson.
