Dorothy Jo Isaacs, 90, of Anadarko, was born July 8, 1923, in Clarendon, Texas, to Murle Raymond and Annie Laura (Ratton) Baker. She passed from this life on Friday, June 20, 2014, in Anadarko.
Dorothy attended school in Texas and earned her G.E.D. many years later while working for Anadarko Public Schools as a school cook. On June 4, 1938 she married J. B. Isaacs in Jacksboro, Texas. Cooking and working with children were two of Dorothy's passions and she often said the years she worked at East Elementary and Anadarko Junior High were among her favorite. After J.B. passed away Dorothy worked various jobs including Walmart, TG &Y, Delta Faucet, and Braum's. She was also the care giver for her disabled daughter, Annie Mae, for many years until Annie's death.
Cooking, quilting, embroidery, crocheting and church work occupied most of Dorothy's time in her later years. She loved making cinnamon rolls, hot rolls and Indian tacos for her family and friends. Quilting brought her great joy and many friends and family members have a quilt made by Dorothy. As a long- time member of New Hope Baptist Church, Dorothy served as church treasurer for over 30 years.
