Dorothy Edwards died November 29, 2014. Dorothy was born on January 20, 1924, in LaCross, OK, the second of two children of Effie and Leslie Edwards.
Dorothy graduated from Verden High School. Thanks to the assistance of her older brother, John, she attended the University of Oklahoma and Southern Methodist University in Dallas to complete her nursing degree. She worked her way through school as a riveter at the Boeing Aircraft Plant. Upon graduation she spent a year working as a nurse in Arizona before returning to Oklahoma. She continued her nursing career as a surgical nurse at Anadarko Hospital, later serving many years as the Director of Nursing. She met and married Don Edwards in 1950.
She is fondly remembered by many of the mothers she assisted in birthing and her contributions to the Anadarko community. Don and Dorothy spent their lifetime traveling throughout the United States. They continued to do so any chance they had to get away and as long as they could.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Effie and Leslie Edwards; husband, Don Edwards; son, DeLane Edwards; her grandson, Erick Morrow; and a brother, John Edwards.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Morrow of Oklahoma City, numerous nieces, nephew and other relatives.
