Doris Jean Hall

Doris Jean (Yeahquo) Hall, 77, was born on August 18, 1943 to Maurice Yeahquo and Birdie (Toppah) Kotay in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was blessed to be raised by her grandparents, Samuel Toppah Yellowhair (Aul-Gu-Ko) and Julia Tainpeah Toppah Yellowhair, who taught her traditional Kiowa ways. Doris entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Doris attended Riverside Indian School. After getting her GED, Doris went on to complete cosmetology school in Dallas, Texas, as well as, Graphic Arts training through Vo-Tech. Doris was a well-known Kiowa artisan, specializing in dream catchers and beaded jewelry. She was an ordained minister in her early years by Dr. Jay Swallow. She remained active in her ministry throughout her lifetime.

Doris is a descendant of Guipago (Chief Lonewolf). She was an active member of the Old Chief Lonewolf Descendants (LTD). She is a descendant of Sage Woman Who Was Killed At Sand Creek Massacre. Doris is also a descendant of Tainpeah K'hee (Heart Eating Man), who was the oldest brother from the Tanedooah (Eagle Medicine) Clan.

Doris is survived by three children, Terri Michelle Milton of Lawton, Oklahoma, Angel Knight of Apache, Oklahoma, Aaron Hall of Chickasha, Oklahoma; nine siblings, Julia Roubideaux of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Alinda Yeahquo Yellowhair of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Maureen Yeahquo of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Dorla Yeahquo of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Alan Yeahquo of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Lavetta Yeahquo of Lawton, Oklahoma, Geneva Emhoolah of Thorton, Colorado, Pershing Yeahquo of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Robert Yeahquo of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Emmanuel T. Winston, Amelia Winston, Rachel Winston, Autaunah Marie Ynguanzo; host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her son, Michael Hall; father, Maurice Yeahquo; mother, Birdie (Toppah) Kotay; paternal grandparents, Edward Tiedle (Big White) Yeahquo and May Quetone Yeahquo; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Julia Toppah Yellowhair.

Visitation for Doris Jean Hall will be on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 9:00a.m. - 8:00p.m. at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.

Graveside services for Doris Jean Hall will be at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Carnegie Cemetery in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Timothy Yeahquo and Pershing Yeahquo. Under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.
