Donna Sue Skelley was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 19, 1940, to Paul and Ruth (Porter) Kissinger. She departed this life on Friday, March 20, 2015. At Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Donna went to school in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Edison High School in 1958. After graduation, she continued her education at Oklahoma State University where she studied Business. While at Oklahoma State University, she met and married her husband of 43 years, Gomer Skelley.
After graduation from college, Gomer and Donna moved to Rocky, Oklahoma to help with the Skelley family farming operation. Soon after, they were blessed with a son, William Eugene, and a daughter, Robin Lea. Together Gomer and Donna embraced the farm life and were actively involved in the Skelley family farming operation, which is now going into it's sixth generation. For many years Donna worked on the Washita County Election Board and was Inspector for the Rocky Precinet. She also served as Chairman of the Farm Bureau Women's Committe for several years. While with Farm Bureau, she received many State awards for her service, and in 1995 she and Gomer were awarded the Oklahoma Farm Family of the year. As time went on, they bought a Hitchhiker 5th wheel travel trailer and joined the Oklahoma Hitchhiker Club. They were very active in the Club and Donna served as Secretary of the Club for some time. They camped many places in Oklahoma, and other states, and made many lifelong friendships. The club members were so much fun and Donna had so many special memories she loved to share about her time on the road and camping with the Hitchhikers. One of the highlights of Donna's life was when her family took her on a seven day cruise to the Bahamas. A favorite memory from that cruise was the time spent in Jamaica. She and the family hired a private taxi van and got to explore the island on their own. She loved to recall the experiences from that day, and the fun time she enjoyed with her family. Donna continued to serve her community and others after moving to Elk City, Oklahoma. She was part of a group of people, including Senators and Congressmen, who worked to get House Bill 2566 passed into law and signed by Gov. Mary Fallin. House Bill 2566 was written to allow residents of Assisted Living Centers to choose their own pharmacy providers without paying any penalties for doing so. She was so thrilled to help make a difference. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 43 years, Gomer Skelley.
