Donald R. Wilson

Donald (Donnie) Ray Wilson, 78, a long time resident of Hobart, Oklahoma passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 1st, 2018. He was born on April 7th, 1940 to Hazel (Keas) and Abe Wilson. Donnie grew up and attended school in Hobart graduating from Hobart High School in the class of 1958 and later he received his doctorate of Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, class of 1968. During high school, Donnie excelled in football and basketball because his dad ensured he was physically fit "bucking" and hauling hay to Fort Worth long before he had a driver's license. During college, Donnie was a "charter member" of Sig Tau fraternity, developing a true brotherhood of lifelong friends. He loved to brag that when other fraternities had 20 pledges, they had 100 (1978 Animal House.) Donnie married Mickey Braun in Hobart and to this union two sons were born Rodney Ray and Andrew Ray. Together they owned and operated Gibson's Pharmacy as well as Wilson's Little Acres Horse Farm. After leaving Hobart, Donnie owned and operated 6th and Brooks Drugstore in Wichita Falls, Texas. Donnie was licensed in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas and spent many years as a floating pharmacist with his most recent employers being Hansford Hospital District - Spearman, Texas and Rexco Drug - Altus, Oklahoma. Donnie married Paula Smith on February 3, 2006 in Hobart. Together they joined their dreams and developed "the compound," (630 South Park) where they enjoyed every day to the fullest on their porch with the sun at their backs and a fire blazing. The highlight of his day was when he got back to his Uncle Clarence's farming roots by plowing his garden with his tractor.
