Donald Lee Haury

Donald Haury passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Hospice Facility in Oklahoma City. During his last days he was comforted by his family. Donald was born September 25th 1955. He was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He was raised and attended school in Carnegie and Binger. Donald is a Kiowa tribal member, he is also a descendant of the Arapaho tribe. Donald comes from the Haury and Tofpi families out of Carnegie. His parents John Haury and Ethelene Tofpi had nine children. John Haury had two brothers Theodore aka Teddy Haury Hubert Tsotigh. Ethelene Tofpi had one sister Rita Creepingbear.
Donald was generous, he enjoyed being with his family, laughing and listening to music. Donald looked forward to attending various pow-wows, watching OU football. He lived in resided in Oklahoma City and worked as roofer for many years. He was taught to work hard and provide for his family by his father John Haury Sr. Donald worked hard all his life. Donald was a talented painter. He sold his paintings to various galleries in Southern California and Scottsdale. He enjoyed painting historic Native Americans in housing, hunting or gatherings. Donald met his wife Karen Haury, when they were in grade school. They were married over twenty years. She was with him in his time of death. They adopted and raised a daughter Liza Haury. Donald was proud of his son Kevin and grandson. Kevin also resides in Oklahoma City.
Donald is survived by Karen Haury of the home, Liza Haury (adopted daughter- of the home), Son Kevin Haury and his wife Rhonda and their son Giovanni, two brothers Clifton "Strawberry" his wife Sarita Tofpi, Janice M. Ticeahkie of Geronimo, Lottie Goombi and husband Doug Goombi from Oklahoma City, Herman Haury Salt Lake City, Utah, Cathy and her husband Lee Philbrick of Wichita, KS.
