Donald Lee Chancellor was born in Leedey, Oklahoma to Cliff and Rada Chancellor on July 6, 1932. Don passed peacefully at Elk City Nursing Home on May 23, 2023. Donald grew up in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. At the age of 18, Donald enlisted in the Navy, serving in Korea for four years. He was awarded a commendation ribbon with a metal pendant for the performance of meritorious service in Korea while attached to the United Nations command military armistice commission.
After proudly serving his country, he continued his education with both a bachelor's and master's degree. Don retired as a high school principal and girls' basketball coach. He loved the students who walked the hallway and the girls who played on his basketball team. Don treated each student fairly and loved to help them in any way he could.
Don was an excellent basketball coach. He knew how to put six girls on the court and come out with a win. He was famous for "The Gotebo Stall" that proved to be unstoppable for most opposing teams. His highest award was the honor of being inducted into The High School Coaches Hall Of Fame.
