Dennis L. Pewo

June 9, 1951 — February 17, 2017

Dennis Lyle Pewo was born June 9, 1951 at the Kiowa Indian Hospital, Lawton. He was the son of Ethel Eikeahpihoodle Pewo and Louis Tselee. He made his home in Apache, with the love of his life, Mary Green Pewo. He was called to his heavenly home on Friday, February 17, at the age of 65 years.
Prayer service will be Monday, February 20, at 7pm at the United Methodist Church of Apache with an all night wake to follow. Funeral will be Tuesday, February 21, at 10am at the United Methodist Church of Apache. Interment at Cache Creek Cemetery, Boone, Okla.
Dennis graduated from Boone School and Apache High School in 1969. Dennis was a member of the Kiowa Tribe. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play for the Apache Warriors and Geronimo Blue Jays. His favorite teams are the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.
A skilled carpenter, he worked for many years at the Kiowa Housing Authority. He retired in 2013 after 21 years of employment with Dolese.
Dennis is survived by his wife Mary of the home, his daughter Crystal and husband Jason Lightfoot; his daughter DeAnna and companion Brendan Jones; his beloved pride and joys, Jasa Denise, Jeffrey Levi and Braeden Michael. Special nephew, Jeffrey Toehay and wife Candy; Sisters, Madeline Pewo Soontay and Glenda Pewo Mendez; Brother, Donald Pewo; special niece Joanna and husband Sam Redbone; namesakes, Dennis Pewo, Jonna Denise, Brettnee Denise, Jasa Denise and Lyle; and his granddog Carmen Denise
Proceeded in death by brothers, Vernon Pewo Sr, Calvin Pewo, and Milton Pewo Sr; sister Roberta Pewo Toehay, Eddie "Butch" Toehay. Grandparents, Eikeahpihoodle "Kiowa Charley" and Kla-koo-cha.
Pall bearers: Jeffrey Lightfoot, Braeden Jones, Jason Lightfoot, Brendan Jones, Dustin BigMountain, Jordan Beartrack, Matthew Clark and Chad Toehay
Honorary pall bearers: Raymond Tselee, Earl Palmer, Thomas Laurenzana, Tobias Robles, Michael Tosee, Barry Wetselline, Nathan Tselee and Phillip Wetselline
Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's of Anadarko, Oklahoma.
