David Jay Wright, 44, was born on December 7th, 1967, to Roy and Sandra (Givens) Wright, at the old hospital here in Anadarko, and was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Oklahoma City shortly after being diagnosed with a fatal genetic liver disorder.
David attended the Anadarko Public Schools and graduated in 1986. When he was 10 years old he started learning how to become an electrician from his father, Roy and grandfather, David Wright. Upon graduation he became a full time employee in their family business, B & B Electric and worked as a local electrician for almost 15 years. David chose to quit working in 2000 so he could help take care of his father who was terminally ill. After losing his father in 2002, he continued to stay at home and care for the rest of his family. Family was David's first priority in life and he did everything he could to make sure they were taken care of. He was a man of integrity and esteem who made a difference in the lives of all those who surrounded him. David had his priorities in order. He did not have a family of just those who were born to him, he also helped raise the children of others around him and was loved and admired by kids. Besides what he did for his own family, he helped his friends too.
David liked to fish and hunt, but he didn't do it for the sport, he did it to provide food for his family. One thing he always stood by, “You should never kill anything unless you are going to eat it!†David was very creative, artistic, and was quite the chef in the kitchen. His specialties were homemade bread and beef jerky. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his neices and nephew. There were many things he taught them such as how to make a homemade bow out of wicker Easter baskets, fish, hunt, and cook from scratch just as he did. He left them with their own special bow and arrow that he made just for them. David helped with his best friends step son and took him fishing and looking around the local river. He also helped raise his best friend's two daughters and took them on numerous hunting and fishing trips. He gave one of the girls a child's bow and arrows and was teaching her to hunt as well. David was definitely the person you wanted to have with you should you ever get stranded in the woods because he was an outdoorsman by blood and survival was a sixth sense to him.
David was preceded in death by his father, Roy, Grandfather, David Wright, Grandparents JC and Joleen Givens, Aunt Rebecca (Wright) Doro, Uncle Bill and Aunt Janetta Abbott, and six cousins, Johnny Bujanda, Kristi Abbott, Sara Doro, Jana Wright, and Amanda Abbott and Darren Osborn.
David is survived by his mother, Sandra J. (Givens) Wright, and one brother, Jason Wright, both of the home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila Vincent and her husband Rick and Amanda Vasquez and her husband Chris, Sr,; six nieces, Ashley and Belinda Stumbling Bear, Jayden, Jaci, Chrislyn, and Cayden Vasquez and one nephew, Chris "Bub" Vasquez, Jr, all of Anadarko; his paternal grandmother, Pearl Wright, of Chickasha; three Aunts: Thresa Savage and her husband David, of Gracemont, Vanda Lewis of Guthrie, and Patricia Willis of Anadarko; two uncles: Gary Givens and his wife Barbara of Verden, and Roger Wright and his wife Kay of Anadarko; his long time best friend and his family, Paul Pittman and his wife Debbie, their children Brandon, Brandi, and Jadzia, all of Anadarko; numerous cousins from all over the states.
