David Lee Taptto, Sr.

David Lee Taptto Sr., 70, was born on September 26, 1950 to William Taptto and Pearl (Aunko) Taptto in Lawton, Oklahoma. David passed away on January 17, 2021 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

David attended high school at Chilocco Indian School graduating with the Class of 1969. After graduation, David went on to attend Haskell Indian Jr. College in Lawrence, Kansas graduating with his associate's degree in 1970. In 1975, David married the love of his life and best friend, Darlene Monica Garcia from Acoma, New Mexico.

David loved to gourd dance, play golf, sing karaoke, and shoot pool. He loved interacting with people and was a die-hard OU sooners fan. David loved life, and he loved God.

David is survived by two sons, David Taptto, Luke Taptto; four daughters, Alisa Kanteena, Tara Jean Taptto, Henwanna Taptto, Davita Taptto; two brothers, Woody Taptto, Peter John; three sisters, Della Blackstar, Sharon Taptto, Linda Taptto; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Garcia; parents, William and Pearl Taptto; son, David Taptto II; daughter, Darnell Taptto; brothers, Hollis Taptto and Gene Taptto; sisters, Patricia Love and Portia Jones.

Visitation for David will be on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 9:00am - 8:00pm and on Satuday, January 23, 2021 from 9:00am - 10:30am at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.

Graveside services for David will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 23, 2020 at Saddle Mountain Cemetery in Mountain View, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Pastor Sharon Taptto. Under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.
