David Charles Payne

April 24, 1949 — November 13, 2010

David Payne, 61, of Mountain View, Oklahoma, died in Oklahoma City on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 after an extended illness. He was the youngest of six and born on April 24, 1949 in Carnegie, OK to Charles V. and Thelma (Lovell) Payne. David started school in Sedan and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1967 then attended Oklahoma State University. He was a third generation farmer, farming in Saddle Mountain area, "Green Valley". He was a volunteer fireman in Saddle Mountain Fire Department and involved in the Gideons. David was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Mountain View and loved the Lord. He sold out his part of the family farm in 1998. He loved cars and motorcycles and was an accomplished photographer.

Survivors include one brother,
Virgil Payne and wife Brenda, Mountain View, OK
four sisters: Corine Francis, Blanchard, OK
Veda Jean Tate and husband Eugene, Pendleton, OR
Frances Hudgins and husband Wynn, Dallas, TX
Barbara Cavett, Denton, TX


28 nieces and 20 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law: Jack Francis and Loy Cavett.


Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
United Methodist Church, Mountain View, OK

Burial will follow in the Green Valley Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Mountain View, Oklahoma.
