Darrell Shannon Harviston

Darrell Harviston, 61, of Hobart, Oklahoma, was a loving husband, father and papa. He loved his family so much. He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on April 14, 1956 to John Franklin and Betty Pearl (Hankins) Harviston. He spent his younger years in Bakersfield, California. Around the age of 12, he moved to Hobart, Oklahoma where he spent most of his life. Darrell got his GED and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1980. He was a Vietnam era veteran. After he served his time in the army, Darrell pursued a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology. He married his wife Sara Kay Chambers, on June 27, 1997. They were happily married for 20 years. He really enjoyed working for Searchlight where he worked for 14 years. His favorite hobbies were listening to his old 50's and 60's records. He loved collecting tin toys and buying and selling junk. He enjoyed going to the casino and playing games on his tablet.
In 2005, Darrell was diagnosed with COPD. In 2016, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. After 15 long hard fought months, he lost his battle with cancer on January 22, 2018. Darrell was a hard fighter and will be dearly missed by many.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Johnny Wayne Harviston and Johnny Dale Harviston.

He is survived by his wife Sara of the home,
three sons; Darrell Harviston Jr., Boston, MA,
Joshua Harviston, Hobart, OK,
Zachary Harviston, Hobart, OK,
one daughter, Kara Harviston, Hobart, OK,
two grandchildren; Aaliyah Washington and La'Kryssah Culpepper.
