Darlene Kay Tyler

September 25, 1940 — November 16, 2011

Darlene Kay Tyler, 71, of Carnegie, OK passed away Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 and went to be with her Lord and Savior. Darlene was born September 25th, 1940 to Fred and Mae (Shamley) Niece in Ft. Cobb, OK. She spent her childhood on the farm east of Ft. Cobb. She received her cosmetology license at the same time her mother did, and they opened a beauty shop together in Ft. Cobb when she was seventeen. Shortly after that she met the boy who turned out to be the love of her life, Smally Tyler. They were married soon after on September 8, 1959. After fifty two years of marriage he was still the love of her life and she his. Darlene ran her beauty shop about four years after their marriage. She and Smally made most of their living going on wheat harvest for many years. They also farmed and raised cattle. They have spent the last few years harvesting wheat in Arizona. Darlene loved animals and loved feeding baby calves. She had a special way of keeping sick calves alive and would give them a lot of loving attention. She also loved her dogs, as did Smally. They were always teased about how spoiled they were. Darlene loved sewing and making quilts. Her absolute favorite thing, was having her family around, and to cook for them. She loved having them over on Sundays for large family dinners. Darlene loved her grandchildren and they gave her a reason to keep fighting when she was so ill. They were the light of their nana's eyes. Darlene was one of those people that not many were privileged to have known. She was one of the pure in heart. She always loved without condition, and always thought the best of everyone. She was never worried about herself but about those she was leaving behind. Many families cant say how proud they are to have a daughter-in-law or sister-in-law. But this family gained a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but loved and remembered in there hearts forever. Darlene was a devoted Christian and attended the Church of the Nazarene.
