Darla Buie

Darla was born on August 31, 1950, in the close-knit community of Carnegie, to Seburn and Melba (Smith) Worley. She passed away on August 22, 2023, at the Carnegie Tri-County Hospital. From a young age, Darla exhibited a remarkable zest for life, an infectious laugh, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. She grew up and attended school in Carnegie, graduating in 1968. Shortly after, Darla married Jimmy Buie at the Carnegie First Baptist Church, on August 16, 1968. Their love story was one of mutual support, kindness, and enduring companionship, and some of her best times were spent traveling with Jim to all but 2 states in the Continental US. Darla's dedication to her family was at the forefront of everything she did. She made her home a warm and welcoming place, filled with laughter, shared meals, and cherished memories. Darla worked as an executive secretary at Eakly Public Schools, retiring in 1999. Her selflessness, kindness, and generosity were an inspiration to all who knew her. Darla was very creative, often using her gifts for sewing, gardening, and ceramics. Darla's devotion to her family was her truest calling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
