Damon Joseph Edelen, 35, of Yukon, was born July 12, 1977, to Benny Joe and Sharon Elaine (Ridle) Edelen in Little Rock, Arkansas. He passed from this life peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
Damon was raised in Gracemont, El Reno, and Edmond. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School with the Class of 1995. He attended college and played baseball where he received athletic scholarships at Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College in Miami and later Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. Damon coached football and baseball and taught school in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Damon returned to Oklahoma Where he began his career as an independent petroleum land man for Black and Blue Energy.
Damon was a gifted athlete excelling in football, baseball, and basketball. As an avid outdoorsman, Damon enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his best friends and family, and watching his niece and nephews in all of their activities. Damon especially loved raising his10 year old son, Bresson, teaching him to golf, fish, hunt and excel in every sport and endeavor that Bresson encountered. Bresson said that his father was strong, funny and the Best Dad in the World.
Preceding Damon in death were his paternal grandparents, James and Patsy Edelen, maternal grandfather, Roy Ridle, aunt, Lara Ridle and uncle, Teddy Carl Edelen.
Survivors include his son, Bresson Edelen of the home; parents, Joe and Sharon Edelen of Washington, Oklahoma; brother, Ty Edelen and his wife, Kayla of Blanchard; sister, Kori Levine and her husband, Michael of Edmond; uncle, James Wayne Edelen and his wife, Patty of Oklahoma City; aunts, Debbie Wells and her husband, Ron of
Ocklawaha, Florida, Jacque Pack and her husband, Kenneth of Gracemont, Karen Barrett and her husband, Wesley of Moore and Jeanne Rogers of Minco; niece, Finley Edelen; nephews, Asher Edelen, Kaleb Levine, Callen Levine and Camron Levine; mother of Bresson, Brandy Edelen; many other cousins, relatives and several close friends Damon would also consider family.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, May, 23, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard with Pastor of students Nick Atyia assisted by Mickey Hensley. The Burial is scheduled for 3:30 P.M. in the Gracemont Cemetery.
