Dale Elwin Maddox

August 1, 1937 — October 9, 2024

Dale E. Maddox, 87, passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2024, in Cordell, Oklahoma, with his wife, daughters and granddaughter by his side. Dale was born on August 1, 1937, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, to Troy F. Maddox and Katy Leoma (Sturgeon) Maddox. He graduated from Cloud Chief in 1955 and then attended Oklahoma State University to pursue Veterinary Medicine. He married Peggy Sue (Price) Maddox on June 5, 1959, where this union was blessed with two (2) daughters, Charlinda (Maddox) Ogle and Julie Maddox. Dale was an avid equestrian, farmer, and rancher. He owned and bred his own award-winning and nationally recognized AQHA bloodlines. He was a partner in MX Livestock in Cordell and drove trucks for over 50 years, hauling anything and everything throughout Oklahoma. You could usually find him riding horses, working cattle and goats, building fence or on the tractor. Dale's pride and joy in life, besides his love for horses, was his family. He delighted in what came to be known as "Grandad's Daycare," where his grandchildren Brittani, Joe Dale and Ryleigh would eagerly tag along on his daily adventures. These moments filled with laughter, lessons and love were some of the most treasured memories for both Dale and his grandchildren.

Dale was an avid sports fan and often went to sporting events all over Oklahoma with his closest friends. He was a permanent fixture on, what we have affectionally deemed, the "geezer bench" at the Cordell basketball gym supporting his favorite basketball player, Joe Dale Maddox. If he wasn't at the farm, you could often find him drinking coffee or playing cards with his friends.

Dale is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue (Price) Maddox of sixty-five (65) years; daughter Charlinda (Maddox) Ogle and her husband Bob Ogle; his daughter Julie Maddox; his granddaughter Brittani (Ogle) Brice and her husband Jacob Brice; his grandson Joe Dale Maddox; his great-granddaughter Ryleigh Long; his great-grandson Deni Brice; his brother Joe Maddox and his wife Wanda Maddox; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Troy F. Maddox and Katy Leoma (Sturgeon) Maddox; his sister Rita (Maddox) Maynard; his brother C.E. "Buddy" Maddox; brother Elmo Maddox; and his in-laws James M. Price and Bessie Aldine (Black) Price.
