Daisy Mae Swift

August 7, 1992 — March 19, 2025

Daisy Mae Swift-Sage entered eternal rest on March 19, 2025. Surrounded by family and close friends as she was called home to the Lord, she maintained the signature grace, tenacity, and effervescence for which she was known among her loved ones throughout a courageous and lengthy battle with illness.

Daisy was born on August 7, 1992, at the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Virgil Swift and Lois Haumpy Swift. In the ensuing three decades, she honored the customs of her tribal lineage and infused the lives of those around her with vivacious humor and a steadfast commitment to family. For much of her early life, Ms. Swift-Sage attended Anadarko Public Schools, where she thrived as an exceptional pupil and member of the Gifted and Talented programs. She continued her education at Riverside Indian School and Oklahoma City Community College; in her post-secondary academic career, she developed an animating passion for childcare and teaching.

Hailing from both the Cauigu and Kitikiti'sh peoples, Daisy represented each tribal nation in a variety of esteemed capacities: as the Wichita Tribal Princess in 2009, as the 2010 Indian Club Princess, and as the Southwest Oklahoma Vietnam Veterans Association Princess throughout her teenage years. She relished any opportunity to engage in traditional dance, song, or hand drum collaborations with her brother Ryan. From her youth, she derived pleasure and fortitude from cooking and faith, and she never lost an affinity for the color pink.

In a storybook flourish, Daisy met the love of her life, Anthony Sage, on Valentine's Day 2022. Their mutual devotion sustained her amid jubilation and challenges alike, including her brave navigation through sickness. She raised one son, Ryan Jon Swift, Jr., whom she adopted following the passings of his biological parents. Known to all as Wittle, he imbued her days with purpose, pride, and joy.

Daisy was preceded in death by her father; her elder brother, Ryan Jon Swift, Sr.; her uncle, Angel Luis Perez Negron, Sr.; and siblings Warren Kane Bointy, Thomas Glenn Haumpy, Crystal Mendinghall, and Angela Haumpy.

She is survived by her mother; son; many beloved aunts and uncles; brothers Charles Eastman Perez Negron, Glenn "Ace" Haumpy, Pau Tahlee Haumpy, Anthony Madderra, Robert Komardley, Anthony Madderra, Andrew Madderra, and Andrew Madderra; and sisters Kimberly Crispin, Misti Haumpy, Christi Haumpy, Mary Ellen Lindsey, Stephanie Chaney, Doni Bertsch, and Addison Cloud.

Pallbearers will include Levi Bointy, Devin Haumpy, Derek Perez Negron, Angel Perez Negron III, Robert Perez Negron, David Perez Negron, and Andrew Molina. Honorary pallbearers are Keelan Bointy, Jerry Chaney III, Alex Hill, Cameron Hill, and Evan Knoff.
