Curtis Alonzo Hurst, 95, passed away March 29, 2016 in Marlow, Oklahoma. He was born on February 6th, 1921, in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Oscar and Hattie Belle (Harris) Hurst. He attended school in Gotebo and was saved at the age of twelve. Curtis served his Country in the United States Army as a Artillery Gunnery Sergeant in WWII during the Battle of the Buldge. Curtis went on to graduate from OU, OSU, and SWOSU with Master's Degree. He married Beatrice Aldridge in August of 1940 and she preceded him in death in 2005. He later married Melba Dickerson on August 24, 2011, in El Centro, California. He was a member of the Gotebo Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Melba, of the home,
son, Curtis "Merl" Hurst, of El Centro, California,
sister, Phyllis Breckley, of Mountain View, Oklahoma,
as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Beatrice Aldridge, three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral Services for Curtis Alonzo Hurst will be held at
2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Gotebo, Oklahoma.
Rev. Richard Crawford will be officiating.
Interment will follow at the Gotebo Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
