Cordell William Barnes

Cordell William Barnes, 91, of Hobart, OK , departed from this life Friday, March 14, 2014 in Hobart, OK. He was born November 14, 1922 to I.E. and Neva (Fain) Barnes in Humphreys, OK. He was united in marriage to Betty Jeanne Barnes, August 10, 1946, who preceded him in death, January 11, 2000. Cordell started working for E.W. Gish in 1946, then Warren Gish, Don Gish, John Gish and Ray & Martha Hackney in the funeral home business, and retired at the age of 80 in 2002 with 56 years experience. Cordell never met a stranger and within a few minutes knew everything about them. He loved traveling in his trailer, searching for old knifes and rooting for the OU Sooners. He was a member of the Hobart Church of Christ. Cordell lived a full and long life, outliving family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Dell and Cheryl, of the home

sister-in-law, Barbara Couts and husband, Joe, Wauseon, OH
sister-in-law, Nina Barnes, Tulsa, OK
nephews and nieces included Bill, Leslie, Becky, Angie, Terry, Shawn, Melony, Michala, Jason and Steven

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanne, brothers, Roy and Troy, sister Martha Virginia and twin brother, Cornell, in-laws, Archie and Minnie Barnes and many friends.

Donations may be made to Hobart Public Library and the Kiowa County Historical Museum.

Family will greet friends and relatives, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home from 6-8pm.

Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19th, 2014, at the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart
