Clayton R Twyman

Clayton Ray Twyman, 77 years 8 months and 23 days, of Cordell, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on August 25th, 2019 at AllianceHealth in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was born on December 2nd, 1941 to Nora (Thomas) and Alfred Twyman in Elk City, Oklahoma. Clayton grew up in the Burns Flat & Canute community. He attended school in Canute and graduated from Canute High School in 1960. Clayton participated in basketball and baseball. After graduation he continued to work on the family dairy farm and Canute Cotton Gin. On October 1, 1960 he married his beloved school mate Marian Blackmore in Elk City, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in Canute and farmed for Newell Webb. Clayton went to work at the Canute Lumber Company for KD Kappel. He became manager and continued there until it closed. He was moved to Cordell Lumber Co as manager in 1971. Clayton worked there until he retired. He also worked in construction with Barney Donavon. In December of 1997, Clayton went to work at the Assessors office as Deputy Assessor, then became County Assessor in March of 2009 and retired in March of 2018. After retirement he continued to raise cattle and farm which he loved most. Clayton also enjoyed fishing with his grand and great grandchildren. He was a loving & devoted husband, father, and PaPa. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his blue heeler Buddy more than words can describe. He never missed a chance to watch their basketball, baseball and softball games or the chance to take them fishing. Clayton will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marian of the home.

Sister in Law: Kay Blakemore of Yukon, OK
Brother in law: Charles Edward Blackmore & wife Val of Benton, AR
And a host of other relatives and close friends including all his coffee buddies and basketball bench watchers.
