Chybon Daimon Cully

Chybon Daimon Cully, 28, was born on February 23, 1994 in Lawrence, Kansas. Chybon was an enrolled member of the Wichita Tribe of Oklahoma. He was also of Kiowa, Apache, Comanche, Seminole, and Muscogee Creek descent. Chybon passed away on January 27, 2023 at his home in Lawrence, Kansas.

Chybon grew up and lived his life in Lawrence, Kansas. He attended Cordley Elementary School, South Middle School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 2012. Chybon played football for the LHS Lions. He would also participate in rugby with a local team in Lawrence. After high school, Chybon attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas and you could always find him at Tecumseh Hall volunteering and hanging out. He also worked for the American Indian Health Research and Education Association (AIHREA) as an intern.
Chybon was a kind and humble soul to all. Chybon was always there to lend a hand, encourage others, and loved to laugh. He had such a big heart and was always helping friends and family. Chybon was dedicated to his grandparents and always took time to ensure their needs were met. Chybon's enjoyment of dancing was nurtured at young age by his grandparents. He was briefly a fancy dancer in his youth and as he grew Gourd dancing was his main focus. Chybon served in the head staff capacity on a few occasions Chybon's one-of-a-kind personality will be missed He was a shoulder to lean on and great listener

Chybon is survived by his parents Rex and Jami Tainpeah-Cully of Lawrence, Kansas, and his sister Marci Cully of Lawrence, Kansas, adopted brother Jamie Wilson (Tammy Hammer Wilson) of Tahlequah, OK; his aunts Freda Tapedo-Gipp, Darryl Tapedo-Monteau both from Lawrence, KS, Sheila Tainpeah, Oklahoma City, OK and Deedra Tainpeah, Choctaw, OK; his uncles Brady Tapedo, Lawrence, KS and Dean Tapedo, KS, Mike Lewis, Anchorage, AK; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge his dear friends who were like brothers to him Manny Romero, Ernie Blueback, Dakota Botone, Macauley Brown, Tristan Keahtigh and Keith Moore.
Chybon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burgess and Millicent (Maynahonah) Tapedo and James Tainpeah and Joann (Wolf) Tainpeah; uncles Jimmy Tainpeah, Dino Tainpeah, Lance Cully and Drake Cully.
Casket bearers are Brady Tapedo, Maurice Monteau, Albert Gipp, Joe Bointy, Manny King, Eric Bailey, Steve Quetone, Nick Reyes, Forbes Perkins, and Harry Tofpi, Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Tilley, Jonathyn Bronaugh, Jr Bearbow, Jeremy Koomsa, Alex Pelkey, Joseph Bearbow, Kert Cully, and Freddy Gipp.
A visitation will be held at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 beginning at 6:00 PM.

A meal will be served immediately after the burial.
