Charlene Louray Oldham

Charlene Louray Oldham, 86, of Tuttle, OK was born on July 1, 1933 in Holdenville, OK to Ray Allen Oldham and Deola (Martin) Rhodes. She passed from this life on April 28, 2020.
Charlene attended Central High high-school in Oklahoma City, OK. She worked at various jobs until she landed a job in 1956 at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a clerk-stenographer. There she took courses and improved her secretarial skills. She soon wowed her supervisors with her typing, spelling, and shorthand speeds.
Charlene married the late Joe Bob Truitt and moved to Anadarko, OK in 1963. She secured a coveted job for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and moved up the ranks quickly. She worked in Supply, Engineering, and Job Placement as well as Collections Clerk. She helped train many of the staff and received several letters of recommendation for her typing, spelling and neatness. She retired from the BIA in 1982 but returned on several occasions to assist the staff.
In 1978 at the age of 45 Charlene accepted the Lord and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church by the Reverend Dale Rogers in Anadarko, OK. Although she wasn't much for religiosity, she always welcomed prayer and had a firm belief that Jesus Christ was her higher power. She was immensely proud of her affiliation with AA and became a sponsor to many. She volunteered at a domestic violence and abuse shelter helping young women.
Retirement life didn't agree with Charlene so in 1988 she took the difficult Civil Service test and passed with flying colors to procure a job with the Oklahoma State Department of Health. She lived and worked in Oklahoma City, OK for 5 years then retired and moved back to Anadarko, OK in 1992.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Ray and Deola, her Stepfather Nathan Keith Rhodes, her sister Peggy Mondor, and her son Steven Nathan Bedwell.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Larry and Samie Craddock, Mustang, OK; 5 grandchildren; Erik Craddock and his wife Linda of Mustang, OK, Stephanie and her husband Sal Intagliata, Wichita, KS, Nathan Craddock and his wife Lacey, Wilton Manors, FL, Nathan Clift of Waterloo, NE and Joshua and Kimberly Clift, Norman, OK. She has 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Kenna, Brody, Isabella, Ethan, Sofia, Isaiah, Jacob and Jonathon.
