Cassie Dolores Baker

September 1, 1943 — January 31, 2022

Cassie Dolores Woolsey Baker was born on September 1, 1943 to Estel C and Ruby I (Rhodes) Woolsey in Danville, Il and gained her angel wings on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart Oklahoma. She was 78 years old.

Cassie grew up in Allerton, Il graduated high school and went on to take some college courses at UI in Champagne-Urbana. She met my father, Robert Lawrence Baker at the local roller-skating rink where he was a skate guard and just entering into the United States marine corps, they dated and were married on November 18, 1961. From there they moved to Camp Pendleton, CA.

She was a Marine wife for 30 years, a devoted wife and mother and home maker, active in her church wherever she moved to. Devoted to God and always loved Him. Volunteered as a teacher's aide at schools, made Christmas ornaments and gifts for the battered Woman's shelter. Cassie was an awesome seamstress and quilt maker. Made quilts all the time. Donated them, gave them away or charged near to nothing for them. She joined the local quilters guild where they meet on Mondays and put their artwork onto a blanket. Cassie enjoyed the ladies so much and would win many ribbons in the local fair. She joined the TPHA hospital auxiliary pink ladies when she moved here as well. Until this covid came she liked to take the patients their snacks, drinks and newspaper. Giving to others is what she liked to do. Giving comfort and encouragement. Cassie loved her family so much and we will love her eternally. Wherever I moved to she was right behind me because she wanted to. And I'm glad she did. She could encourage and comfort you with a soft word and gentle touch. Her words of advice are priceless. Cassie was our rock that helped hold it together. She will be sorely missed, an irreplaceable jewel.
