Carrie Lynn Washee

January 24, 1969 — August 8, 2021

Carrie Lynn Washee, 52, of Apache peacefully went to her heavenly home on August 8, 2021. She was born on January 24, 1969 in Lawton, OK to Gordon Sr. and Arliss Archilta-Washee.

Carrie was raised in the Fort Cobb and Boone communities. She attended school in Fort Cobb, Boone, Apache, and Riverside Indian School. She was an athlete participating in both basketball and track and field. After high school, Carrie attended Aladdin Beauty College where she learned her trade as a cosmetologist.

Carrie never met a stranger. She was friends with almost everyone she met. She was the life of the party and was always full of laughter. Carrie always had a smile on her face and was willing to lend a helping hand.

Carrie was known as Auntie Carrie to many. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. She often shared stories of the children growing up.

Carrie was an enrolled member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma. She also had Cheyenne and Arapaho lineage, which she was very proud of. She was a direct descendant of Arapaho Chief Ananita Washee and Cheyenne Star War Woman. Carrie served as Apache Tribal Princess in 1985 and became a member of the Apache Princess Sorority. She loved to attend Apache Blackfeet dances, singing behind the drum with her mother.
