Carolyn Hunt Lujan, 95 of Carnegie, OK passed away Thursday, August 18th, 2011 in Norman, OK.
Carolyn was born in Lawton, OK and was raised by her paternal grandparents, Julia Given Hunt and George Hunt. She attended Bacone for High School and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK and began her career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She retired from the BIA. Carolyn was a very strong and determined woman who spent much of her life teaching and guiding young Indian children. She was a teacher and a counselor in many Pueblos in New Mexico including Santa Domingo, Laguna, Taos and San Juan. She was a teacher and dormitory counselor at Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS, as well as Bordertown Dormitory at Flagstaff, AZ. She was one of the two oldest living members of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and a respected and honored elder of the tribe.

Arron Richard Lujan and wife, Heather, Pittsburgh, PA
three great-grandchildren:
Eli and Ryann Lujan, Dallas, TX
Linley Carolyn Lujan, Pittsburgh, PA
one sister:
Christina Simmons, Carnegie, OK as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ruth (Toyebo) and Ernest Hunt, her husband, Richard of 70 years, sister, Julia Geiogamah, and great-grandson, Vaughn Lujan.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 6pm-8pm at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home Chapel, Carnegie, OK
Funeral Service: 11:00am Monday, August 22, 2011 at Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church, Mountain View, OK
Burial will follow at the Rainy Mountain Church Cemetery, Mountain View, OK
