Carolee (Zumwalt) Light, 85, resident of Anadarko, Oklahoma, died Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Physician's Hospital, Anadarko, OK. Carolee was born June 27, 1934 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Josephine Valdez Zumwalt of Walters, Oklahoma and William Paul Zumwalt of Anadarko, Oklahoma. She was related to Paul Tsait'Kope Tah. Her Grandmothers were Susie Ah-Kaun and Amy Daun-Geah-Day, who held the original allotments near Anadarko.
Carolee moved to Los Angeles, CA under the Indian Relocation Act of 1956. She worked in Los Angeles, returned to Oklahoma. She was employed at Central Nation Bank in Oklahoma City OK.
She loved cats, traveling for her work and with her husband and her church. She traveled the world with her husband to Beirut and other Mid East countries.
Carolee married J. Lowell Light on December 8,1970 in Beirut, Lebanon. They lived many years in the Middle East, including Egypt, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. They returned to the United States in 1978, Lived in Granbury, TX until moving to Anadarko, OK in 1987. They owned and operated Anadarko Farms Smoke Shop where the Present-day Wal-Mart is located.
She is survived by her special niece/daughter Mervala Jean Zumwalt, son nephew Joseph Zumwalt; Step daughter, Susie Cremshaw, brother Mervyn Zumwalt and his wife, Viola; all of Anadarko, Oklahoma; her nieces E'vonne Zumwalt and Misty April Zumwalt; Granddaughter & Goddaughter, Paris Burbex; great neice Olivia Fae Zumwalt and Avianna Rose Oldman Zumwalt and great nephew Rome Noah , John D. Pinezaddleby, brother-in-law, of Lawton Oklahoma, Susan Crenshaw, of Fort Worth, Texas
Very good friends, Mary French, Charlotte Thompson, Mary Jane Pollman, Virginia Urabaza and Linda Poolaw.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Josephine Valdez Zumwalt and William Paul Zumwalt husband, J. Lowell Light, brother, Robert Zumwalt. Ware's chapel has significant meaning to Carolee, as her two grandmothers Susie and Amy were charter members.
