Caroel Leon Stanford

April 11, 1932 — November 18, 2021

Caroel Leon Stanford, 89, of Cyril, Oklahoma was born April 11, 1932 to James Monroe Stanford and Laura Lee (Smith) Guynn. Caroel was lovingly known as Dad (Daddy), Uncle Diddy, and Grandpa to his family; his friends called him Stan (short for Stanford); and his military buddies referred to him as "Stan the Man". Our Daddy rode the "Glory Train" to be with our Lord and Savior on November 18, 2021.

He first entered the National Guard at age 17. Then, in 1950, at age 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War in infantry, artillery, and tank battalion. After Korea, Caroel was discharged to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1955, he would re-enlist in the U.S. Army before later joining the United States Air Force in 1958 where he served in the Vietnam War. After 20 years of serving his country, a perfect record and recommendation for Master Sergeant, Caroel decided to retire in 1974 as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S.A.F.

After Caroel retired from the United States Air Force, he moved his family to Anadarko, Oklahoma and resided there from 1974 to 1996 where he worked in retail before owning his own lawn care business. Caroel then resided in Cyril, Oklahoma from 1996 to 2021.

Caroel was preceded in death by his siblings Coletha Lorene (Stanford) Guynn, Jefferson "Jack" Perry Stanford, Franklin Eugene Stanford, Jimmie Lee (Stanford) Randall, Clarence Wesley Guynn, and Nola Jo (Guynn) Bartlett; his mother, Laura Lee (Smith) Guynn; his father, James Monroe Stanford; and his step-father, Clarence David "Buster" Guynn.

He is survived by his siblings: Shirley Delores (Stanford) Elsen of Lakewood, Colorado; and Rosaleta "Rosie" (Guynn) Woodring of Anadarko, Oklahoma; his daughters and their spouses: Shirley and Ken Swenson of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; Ginger and Greg Palm of Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota; Carolyn and Tommy McCasland of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Laura and Chris Moxley of Norman, Oklahoma; and Rebecca and Shawn Mebane of Tarzan, Texas. Caroel is also survived by 3 step-daughters and their spouses: Janet and Carlton Sanders of Gatesville, Texas (children: Heath, Jeffrey and Ashlea Sanders); Debra and David Conner of Nemo, Texas (children: Brad, Cliff, and Kent Conner); and Patricia and Juan Aranda of Granbury, Texas (children: Teri Hales, John Robert Aranda, and Charla Young).

Caroel was the proud Grandpa to 16 grandchildren: Renae Gammon, Shane Ward, Kristina Iniguez, Chelsea Marthaler, and Sharon Voeller; Lisa Madden, Jeremy Palm and Daniel Palm; Lauren, Matthew, and Rachael Freie; Jorden Moxley and Morgen Williams; and Bailey, Rush and Brecken Mebane; and he had 20 great-grandchildren: Jackson and Cameron Ward; Audrey, Harper, and Evelyn Marthaler; Urijah and Canaan Voeller; Addie and Emmy Madden; Deacon, Stella, and Carmen Palm; Hunter, Elliott, and Mikko Palm; Nathaniel Freie; Dru and Cameron Cox; and Kira and Owen Williams; plus another 22 great step-grandchildren; all of whom he loved dearly.
