Byrdena Vernel Lowber, 91, was born on June 8, 1930, to Oliver William and Maggie (Collier) Lowber in Cordell, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021, at the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Byrdena was a 1948 graduate of Cordell High School. She married the love of her life,
Eldon Cook, on February 8, 1952. This union was blessed with two children, Rick and Jana.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and, especially, her most beloved job, that of being a farmer's wife. She also adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whatever the activity, she was there, cheering them on!
Byrdena was an active member of the Cloud Chief Extension Homemaker's Club. She served in many capacities in the local, county, and state level. She was one of the Washita County Fair Superintendents in the EH division for many years. She and Eldon were also active members of the Washita County Farm Bureau. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Cordell.
She is survived by her children, Rick Cook and wife, Mary, Cordell, OK; Jana Webb and husband, Dirk, Cordell, OK; and her grandchildren: Crystal Drennan and husband, Matt, Silver City, NM; Candice McGuire and husband, Kris, Lakeland, TN; Shannon Denniston, Amarillo, TX; Cricket Moore and husband, Dustin, Cordell, OK; Sheldon Webb, Oklahoma City, OK; Nocona Cook and wife, Jordan, Cordell, OK; great-grandchildren: Kale, Malachi, Addison, KyLynn, Emma, Jaxon, Delainee, Denton, Cambree, Jager, and Baylor; and her sister: LaZetta Penner, Cordell, OK; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her: husband, Eldon, parents, Bill and Maggie Lowber, sister, Billoye DeLong, brothers, Frank and Royce Lowber.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the United Methodist Women of the Cordell United Methodist Church or the Cloud Chief Fire Department.
