Billie Deanne Strickland-Smith

Billie Deanne Strickland-Smith, 74, of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, January 19th, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born the daughter of Raymond and VaRue Wall Strickland, August 12th, 1943 in Santa Monica, California.
Billie became a resident of Mangum in 1949, but being raised in a military family, she spent some time in other places including South Carolina, among other base cities and actually graduated from high school in Alaska. But Mangum was always home and she always returned. She loved to cook and was the hostess for the Sassy Lady's Luncheon Club that met once a month to socialize and enjoy the wonderful meals she prepared. Billie was a member of the Mangum Alumni Association and was also known to love all types of dancing, from hip-hop to county two stepping. But her favorite was the graceful motions of the waltz.
Though they met in the 1st grade in 1949, she married Tyler Smith in 1995 to enjoy 22 plus years of blissful matrimony. She not only loved her home life, but enjoyed working outside the home as well, running a daycare for children and working as a receptionist in a salon while in California. She always had a warm smile and will be missed by all those who knew her.

1 Sister: Barbara "Bobbie" Sorenson of Irvine, CA
6 Grandchildren: Bryce Simpson of Riverside, CA
Dylan Simpson of Santa Cruz, CA
Connoly Simpson of Santa Cruz, CA
Ryan Peach and wife Heather of Paso Robles, CA
Anthony Peach of Paso Robles, CA
Jerahmy Kelley of Paso Robles, CA
1 great-granddaughter: Madelyn Peach of Paso Robles, CA
1 Niece: Kristina Mouradin and husband Doug of Huntington Beach, CA
2 Great nephews: Dustin and Derek Mouradin of Huntington Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents,her sister, Devonne Sessum McNeil and one granddaughter, Kayla Peach.
The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, January 23, from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Mangum, Oklahoma.
