Beverly A. Bowman Hatfield was born in Rehoboth, New Mexico on October 28, 1954, into the Kiowa Tribe Red Tipi and born for Naasht'ezhi Dine' (Zuni Clan) to Arthur V. Bowman & Thelma Kaulaity Bowman. She passed from this life on July 6, 2022, in her residence.
Beverly was no stranger to hard work. She began as early as her teens popping corn at the Redskin Theater in Anadarko. She married her high school sweetheart, Benny, on December 10, 1970, at JJ Methvin United Methodist Church and they began their journey with the United States Marine Corps. From the officer clubs at various Marine Corps bases to retail management in Kentucky and Oklahoma, she continued building teams and improving customer service. She made her acting debut in the first Oklahoma Walmart Neighborhood Commercial Campaign which aired statewide. That same year, Wal-Mart flew her by private plane to Bentonville, Arkansas where she met Sam and Helen Walton. She gave Wal-Mart 20+ years of amazing customer service.
Beverly earned her GED in the early 1980s. She was a working mother and wife who advocated that it is never too late to get an education as she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Native American Studies in 2000 as a Te Ata scholarship recipient. She also studied at Clear Creek Baptist College in Pineville, Kentucky, where she and her husband launched a mission from the basement of the office at Ferndale apartment community that later grew to Ferndale Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving as a pastor's wife at Ferndale, First Caddo Baptist Church, and various interim pulpit supply and lay ministries.
She was an active Southern Baptist church member, working with many ministry initiatives, including children's Sunday school, mission friends, girls in action, community outreach, vacation bible school, and other ministries. She was a proud Avon consultant and won many awards throughout that experience where she gave thousands of samples of beauty care to others. She was a queen at building relationships. She never met a stranger.
Beverly was a Girl Scout leader from Brownie to Junior Girl Scout for many years in both Oklahoma and Kentucky. She enjoyed serving along with her husband as an AHS Band Booster President. She was a member of the Kiowa War Mothers Chapter 18.
The simplest things in life brought joy to Beverly, and she loved her present-day ladies' Sunday School class and Wednesday night bible study. While her favorite book is the bible, her favorite scripture includes 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 and Matthew 7:7-8.
All her friends, colleagues, and family will miss her encouraging sweet spirit and bright smile.
