Betty L Moore

July 31, 1929 — June 3, 2016

On July 1,1971, on a farm southwest of Cooperton, OK, a beautiful and long-lasting union was established. Betty and Allen Moore were married and what a wonderful life they shared. Betty was 86 years and 10 months old when she passed this life on June 3rd, 2016 at her new home, Southern Plaza Retirement Center in Bethany, Oklahoma. Betty Lou Hacker Moore was the oldest child born to Irvin and Iva Mae Hacker in Minco, Oklahoma on July 31st, 1929. Like rungs on a ladder, eleven sibblings followed: Warren, Peg, Loretta, Lawrence, Eugene, Nolie, Leroy, Freda, Erma, Sandra, and Nancy. It may be worth noting that Betty had 96 first cousins. Betty married Robert Earl Hilliard (Bob) in 1946. They moved to El Paso,Tx where Bob was in the army. Betty got a job waiting tables at a high-end restraunt, and her tips always exceeded her salary by about three times. After Bobs army duties, the couple returned to Minco. They had 5 children together before he later passed away from cancer. To support the family, Betty began working at Aero Commander in Oklahoma City operating a burring machine. She was recognized for her outstanding skills and was voted Best Worker by her peers for four consecutive months. Betty left Areo Commander and moved to Mountian View, Oklahoma where she married Mervin Slife and worked at the Mt. View Nursing home. The couple had one son together. Betty was the mother of six children: Robert, Linda, Laura, Rick, Danny, and Roger. She was extremely proud of her brood and often said, "They aren't all perfect, but they are all mine." Betty met Allen Moore at the Cordell Stomp during the winter of 1970. The two were married July 1, 1971. Betty and Allen went together like a hand and glove. They began building a new nest and life together. To contribute to the family unit, Betty began working at the Snyder Nursing Home and then Elk View Hospital in Hobart. Later the Roosevelt school hired her to manage the school lunch program. She dearly loved her job, but in 1976 the Western VoTech offered her a job that she could not turn down as a teachers aid in the food service program. This was a perfect job for her, and it wasn't long before she became famous for her hot rolls, cinnamon rolls, and biscuits and gravy. Oh my how she loved to feed those hungry students. The Votech job allowed Betty and Allen to ride to work together for 17 years. She retired from Western Votech in May 1993. She and Allen began a woodworking business, Cooperton Crafts, where they created countless treasures and heirlooms. Until the winter of 2015 when the couple moved to Southern Plaza in Bethany, Oklahoma. Betty loved her home on the farm and looked forward to gardening both flowers and vegetables every year. She rode her tractor thousands of miles keeping her grass mowed and yard looking beautiful. She took pride in a job well done. Betty was proceeded in death by her parents; one daughter Linda Perry, grandson Rowdy Gray, one step-daughter Frankie Hilliard Graham, one brother Warren Hacker, and one sister Nolie Merkle. She is survived by her husband Allen, five children; Robert Hillard and wife Janet; Laura Wells, Rick Hilliard, Danny Hilliard and wife Misty, Roger Slife and wife Tammy, three stepdaughters Connie Vetter and husband Jerry, Allison Horne and husband Steve, LaNette Jackson and husband Tobin, 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also had 3 bonus daughters Sharon Meinert and husband Duane, Carol Meinert and husband Monte, Donna Jones and husband Buddy, and a host of relatives and friends. Betty along with Allen placed their membership at First Christian Church in Hobart, Oklahoma on August, 6 1995. She was a faithful member who dearly loved her church, and she was always willing and ready to serve wherever needed. Betty left a lasting imprint that will not be soon forgotten.
