Betty Lou Hendry, 77, of Roosevelt, OK and a former Vernon, TX resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born June 28, 1934 in Fannin County, Bonham, TX to Terral Benton (Bud) and Ella (McCarter) Goodwin. She married Raymond Melvin Hendry June 7, 1952 in Fannin County and he preceded her in death January 11, 1990. She baby-sat in her home, worked in the church nursery and over the years, mothered an untold number of other children. Betty was a nurse's aid for 23 years at the Vernon Nursing Home, worked 17 years with the State of Texas Mental Hospital in Vernon, TX retiring in 1997 and was a personal caregiver. Betty lived in Roosevelt, OK with daughter Shirley Terry for the past 12 years and previously resided in Vernon, TX from 1952 until 1998.She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vernon.
Betty's greatest joy was being a homemaker and mother of 4 children:

and Jacob Boling.

many nieces and nephews; the staff at Altus Divata Dialysis Center; staff at the Integris Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK and Dr. Aly who cared for her for the past 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Brandon Terry, brothers, Clint Goodwin & Joe Goodwin and sisters, Edith Coonrod, Dorothy Bevel, Wanda Barker and Pearl Taylor.

Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the Eastview Cemetery, Vernon, TX under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, OK
