Anna “Annie†Bell Cobb was born April 4, 1950, to Daniel and Maudine (Sams) Cobb in Leesville, Louisiana. She passed from this life on Monday July 2, 2012, at her home in Anadarko.
She attended LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After graduation in 1969 Annie entered the U.S. Navy and would retire after 22 years. She was one of the first women in the Navy to serve on board ship. She was on two different ships and also served duty in England. She loved being a veteran and having served her country.
Annie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was eager to help with most of the activities at the church, including the giveaway garage sale. Anna loved children and was especially fond of Jon and Jack Barnard. She was an avid OU fan and kept everyone up on what “her team†was doing. She enjoyed reading and would go fishing if anyone was going. She was the type of person that would do anything you needed her to do. She will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bruce.
Survivors include her brother, David and wife Judy of Harahan, Louisiana; and her Oklahoma family, Katie Forster and her husband, Larry, Xuma Schlegel and her husband, Marvin, Francis Milam and her husband, Sam, Linda Love and her husband, Leroy, Ben McDonald and his wife, Faye, all of Anadarko, Jessie Greer of Gracemont and many other friends.
A memorial service for Annie will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church with Ray Weathers, former pastor, officiating. Anna unselfishly donated her body to science. Donations in Annie's honor can be made to the Bethel Family Life Center or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home.
