Angela V. Gomez, 91, was born October 1, 1922, to Nicolas and Ladislada (Franco) Vasquez in Anadarko. She passed from this life on Sunday, February 9, 2014, surrounded by family at her home in Anadarko.
Angela was raised around the Gracemont and Anadarko area and attended Sugar Creek School. She married Jim C. Gomez on May 25, 1946, in Anadarko. She and her husband worked in the fields for various famers in the area. Angela was basically a “stay-at-home†mom and homemaker and helped to raise four generations of children.
She liked country and Mexican music and watching old Western movies on TV. Angela enjoyed going to Walmart every chance she got but especially loved cooking and taking care of her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jim; one son, Edward; two grandchildren, Michael and Jeffery Toyekoyah; siblings, Tiny Brookshire, Floyd Vasquez, Ralph Vasquez, Nellie Guerrero, Andrea Santos and Famie Gomez; four nephews, Ricky Gomez, Tommy Gomez, Kirby Gomez and Teddy Wishon; and one niece, Cecilia Reagan.
Survivors include five children, Raymond Gomez and his wife, Frances of Austin, TX, Anita Toyekoyah, Nick Gomez and his wife, Stephanie both of Anadarko, Gloria Wilcox and her husband, Dana of Birmingham, AL and David Gomez and his wife, Mildred of Anadarko; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; special niece, JoAnn Ontiveros; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 P.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Steverson Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, February 13, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Online condolences may be left at
