Amos Joseph Elix was born to Joseph and Mary Elix in their home on August 20, 1930. He was the eighth child of a family of ten children. His brothers include Robert Elix (Deceased), AC Elix (Deceased), Sam Elix (Deceased), Walter Elix, and LC Elix (Deceased). His sisters include Nancy Elix (Deceased) Alma Johnson (Deceased), Ella Sprat (Deceased), Zoeletta Elix (Deceased).
In 1948, Amos Graduated from Hobart High School. He later married Marietta Jackson (Deceased). Even though their marriage was short lived, the union produced four children: Charles Earl Elix (Deceased), Linda Elix, Pauletta Elix, and Randy Elix.
On January 13, 1953, Amos married Jennie B. Nelson in Albuquerque, NM. They would remain together for Fifty-eight years. In 1959, Amos joined the Army National Guard. In the early 1960's, Amos and Jennie moved to Seattle, WA. where Amos worked as an aircraft mechanic for Boeing Aircraft and was later transferred to Wichita, KS.
In 1971, Amos and Jennie adopted their only son Jerry D. Elix in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1972, Amos and Jennie moved their family to Hobart, OK. During this time, Amos started working for Hobart Public Schools. Also, Amos and Jennie had a house keeping business, and a Barbecue and Fried Chicken business.
In 1984, Amos started to work for the Hobart Golf and Country club. At this time, Amos and Jennie started their business at the Dew Drop Inn. In 1989, Amos left the Hobart Country Club and started work for the Hobart Housing Authority as a maintenance man, and eventually an administrator. He will work for the Hobart Housing Authority for the next Twenty years until his retirement in 2009.
Between 1990 to 2011, Amos traveled throughout the country with Jennie always by his side. They enjoyed their time with family and friends. Even though they enjoyed arguing, they loved each other greatly until the day of Amos' Homecoming to the Lord on December 18, 2011. Amos was 81 years old.
Amos is survived by his wife Jennie Elix. His son's Jerry Elix and Randy Elix. His daughter's Linda Elix and Pauletta Elix. His brother Walter Elix. Also Amos is survived by eight Grandchildren and seven Great-Grandchildren.
