Alvin Carl White

August 31, 1931 — November 25, 2013

Alvin Carl White, 82, of Anadarko, was born August 31, 1931, in Hobart, Oklahoma to John James and Doris Faye (Clark) White. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 25, 2013, peacefully, in his sleep and surrounded by family.
Al was raised and attended school in Mountain View, Chickasha and Anadarko. He graduated from Anadarko High School with the Class of 1949. Al married Peggy Hooten December 29, 1950. He worked at the Safeway in Anadarko for Vernon Martin at the age of 16. He later worked for Safeways in Lawton and Shawnee. Al managed the first Safeway in Hobart. He then built and worked for the last Safeway on Central in Anadarko retiring after 16 years of service. He joined the National Guard with his brother, Bob, and was deployed with the 45th Infantry to Japan for a time. Al then operated a DX station and a Gulf station and then opened up his own White and Son's Service Station and Car Wash. He retired at age 55 to his cattle operation southwest of Anadarko.
Al's happiest times were spent with his brother, Bob, camping and swimming in the river. He loved to hunt in Colorado and fish in Alaska. His favorite hobby was raising cattle. Al enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a kind-hearted and forgiving man and loved his family dearly. He was a member of the Anadarko Kiwanis Club and Masonic Lodge #21.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Peggy, one son, Paul Alvin White and one brother, Bob White.
Survivors include his daughter, Carla Grimes and her husband, Billy; one son, Keith White, all of Anadarko; three grandchildren, Brian Connally and his wife, Sheila of Anadarko, Chelsea White of S. Korea and Alisha White of Norman; one great grandchild, Calli Sue Connally of Anadarko; two sisters, Leatrice Sneed of Cookson Bend, Oregon and Sue Williams of Vian, Oklahoma; one brother, Jim White and his wife, Lenna of Anadarko; four sisters-in-law, Wilda White, Ola Jean Stockton, both of Anadarko, June DuBois of Stockton, California and Tommie Larson of Hitchinson, Kansas; dear friends, J.D. Young and Bill Graham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral Service will be at 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the First Assembly of God with former pastor, Eugene Howeth, officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery.
