Almittie Frances (Johnson) Samuels was born on January 8,1931in Fort Cobb, OK to Melvin Sr and Ozella (Littles) Johnson. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, OK. She was the fifth child of a family of 10, 5 boys, and 5 girls. She lived most of life in Oklahoma and attended Greater First Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK. Sister Samuels served and remained a faithful member in the church until her health prevented her from attending regularly.
Almittie loved children and worked as a preschool teacher. She was known to "straighten out" a child while giving a hug at the same time. Almittie stated that she didn't want to live in a house without children because when a child is in the house, you find God in the house. She was a straight shooter in her life as well as a straight shooter on the firing range. Some lovingly referred to her as Annie Oakley due to her good marksmanship. One of her favorite things to do was listen to her daughters sing gospel music that she proudly stated their beautiful voices were gifted from God.
Almittie departed life on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 and leaves 8 children to mourn her loss:
