Alice Goeringer, 95, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. She was born in Kansas and later moved with her family to the Bessie area when she was still a young girl. She lived in the area for the rest of her life, except for the time she spent attending and graduating from Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City.
She married Ervin Goeringer in 1945. She worked in the Washita County Clerk's office for many years. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time cooking, painting, quilting, and working on woodcrafts with her husband. She was an active and faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years, helping with many committees and events.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Goeringer; sisters, Ruth Sanders, Thelma White, and Florence Ware, and brother, Walter Baumgart. She is survived by her son, Douglas Goeringer of Knoxville, TN, and daughter, Gretchen Holman and husband Randy of Sun Lakes, AZ; four grandchildren, Zak Goeringer, Brett Goeringer and wife Lauren, Bryan Holman and wife Alia, Christopher Holman and wife Marley, and Erica Zuhr; and five great grandchildren, Sebastian Landa, Lincoln Goeringer, Grant Holman, Layla Holman, Lennox Holman, and Lena Holman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1 from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 2 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Cordell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Corn Heritage Village. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Corn Heritage Village, Dr. Jonathan Long, and Shepherd Hospice for the kindness and wonderful care given to Alice over many years.
